Apsidal motion in southern eccentric eclipsing binaries: GL Car, QX Car, NO Pup and V366 Pup
The study of apsidal motion in eccentric eclipsing binaries (EEB)provides an important observational test of theoretical models ofstellar structure and evolution. The Southern hemisphere contains manyinteresting and also neglected binary systems. New accuratephotoelectric times of minimum light have been obtained for the detachedearly-type Southern hemisphere EEB GL Car (P = 2.42d,e = 0.15), QX Car(4.48d, 0.15), NO Pup (1.26d, 0.13) and V366 Pup (2.48d, 0.47). The O-Cdiagrams are analysed using all reliable timings found in the literatureand improved or new values for the elements of the apsidal motion arecomputed. We find more precise, relatively short periods of apsidalmotion of about 25.2, 362, 38.3 and 285yr and corresponding internalstructure constants, log k2, -1.88, -2.08, -2.32 and -2.38for GL Car, QX Car, NO Pup and V366 Pup, respectively, with theassumption that the component stars rotate pseudo-synchronously. Therelativistic effects are small, being about 3-12 per cent of the totalapsidal motion rate in all systems.Based on observations made at the South Africa Astronomical Observatory,Sutherland, South Africa and Mt John University Observatory, Universityof Canterbury, Lake Tekapo, New Zealand.E-mail: wolf@cesnet.cz

The Carina Spiral Feature: Strömgren-Hβ photometry approach. I. The photometric data-base
A data-base collating all uvbybeta photometry available at present forO-B9 stars brighter than 10th visual magnitude in the field of theCarina Spiral Feature is presented. The completeness and homogeneity ofthe data-base are discussed.Based on CDS data.Table 1 is only available in electronic form at the CDS via anonymousftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr (130.79.128.5) or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/qcat?J/A+A/410/523

Strömgren and Hβ photometry of O and B type stars in star-forming regions. III. Carina Spiral Feature
Strömgren and Hβ photometry of O and B type stars, generallybrighter than 9.5 mag is reported for the field of the Carina SpiralFeature. The observations are based on the PPM catalogue identificationsand are designed to improve the completeness of the existing uvbybetadata for the bright early-type stars in the field. We present new uvbyphotometry for 283 stars and Hβ photometry for 225 of them. Theseobservations are part of an ongoing effort to study the structure ofselected star-forming regions in the Milky Way by means of uvbybetaphotometry. A comparison of the new data to other uvbybeta data sets forthis field is presented. Based on data from the Strömgren AutomaticTelescope of the Copenhagen University Observatory, La Silla. Tables 1and 2 are only available in electronic form at the CDS via anonymous ftpto 130.79.128.5 or via http://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/Abstract.html

Walraven photometry of nearby southern OB associations
Homogeneous Walraven (VBLUW) photometry is presented for 5260 stars inthe regions of five nearby southern OB associations: Scorpio Centaurus(Sco OB2), Orion OB1, Canis Major OB1, Monoceros OB1, and Scutum OB2.Derived V and (B - V) in the Johnson system are included.

Four-colour photometry of eclipsing binaries. XXXI - Light curves of EM Carinae
Complete uvby light curves of the southern detached double-lined O-typeeclipsing binary EM Car have been obtained between 1981 and 1984. Thelight curves contain 1306 points for each of the colors considered. Aset of uvby observations from 1985, 1987, and 1988 for five additionaltimes of minima are presented which can be used in an apsidal motionstudy.

Four-colour photometry of eclipsing binaries. XXIIA Photometric elements and apsidal motion of GL Carinae
New uvby Stromgren light curves and H-beta observations obtained in 1982and 1983 with the Danish 50-cm ESO telescope are analyzed with thesynthetic binary model WINK to determine the photometric elements. GL VCar is found to be a young and relatively massive eclipsing binarycomposed of two early-type stars, well detached from their Roche lobes, with a radii ratio of 0.95, a relative radius of the primary of 0.220,and an orbital inclination of 86.4 degrees. An accurate orbitaleccentricity value of 0.1457 is derived, and an apsidal motion period of25.22 years is obtained which corresponds to a weighted internalstructure constant of -1.89 in agreement with theoretical predictions.GL Car seems to be associated to the Carina OB complex surrounding theopen cluster NGC 3572.
