Vitesses radiales. Catalogue WEB: Wilson Evans Batten. Subtittle: Radial velocities: The Wilson-Evans-Batten catalogue. We give a common version of the two catalogues of Mean Radial Velocitiesby Wilson (1963) and Evans (1978) to which we have added the catalogueof spectroscopic binary systems (Batten et al. 1989). For each star, when possible, we give: 1) an acronym to enter SIMBAD (Set ofIdentifications Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) ofthe CDS (Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). 2) the numberHIC of the HIPPARCOS catalogue (Turon 1992). 3) the CCDM number(Catalogue des Composantes des etoiles Doubles et Multiples) byDommanget & Nys (1994). For the cluster stars, a precise study hasbeen done, on the identificator numbers. Numerous remarks point out theproblems we have had to deal with.

SANTIAGO 91, a right ascension catalogue of 3387 stars (equinox J2000). The positions in right ascension of 3387 stars belonging to the Santiago67 Catalogue, observed with the Repsold Meridian Circle at Cerro Calan,National Astronomical Observatory, during the period 1989 to 1994, aregiven. The average mean square error of a position, for the wholeCatalogue, is +/-0.009 s. The mean epoch of the catalogue is 1991.84.

A catalog of K giants at the South Galactic Pole - Broadband and DDO photometry and radial velocities We describe a sample of K giants at the South Galactic Pole, selected toexamine the chemical and kinematical properties of stars perpendicularto the galactic plane and to measure the local column density of thedisk. We report velocities, abundances, absolute magnitudes, andbroadband BV photometry for over 500 giants.

Local dark matter from a carefully selected sample The precise data obtained by Flynn and Freeman (1991) on K giants at thesouth Galactic pole are used to analyze the amount of local dark matterin which the systematic effects can be modeled easily and evaluatedaccurately. The method of Bahcall (1984) is employed to solve theself-consistent equations for the distribution of dark matter. TheK-giant survey is found to provide significant evidence for disk darkmatter. Taking into account all recognized sources of error using astatistical test devised by Gould (1989, 1990), a model with no darkmatter is inconsistent with the data at the 86-percent confidence level. The best-fit P-model (in which dark matter is distributed proportionallyto known matter) has 53 percent more dark matter than visible matter.

Large and kinematically unbiased samples of G- and K-type stars. II - Observations of evolved stars in the Bright Star sample. III - Evolved young disk stars in the Bright Star sample Four color and RI observations were obtained for a large sample ofG-type and K-type stars in the Bright Star Catalogue. Data are firstpresented for 110 evolved stars. Photometry of evolved young diskpopulation stars have then been calibrated for luminosity, reddening, and metallicity on the basis of results for members of the Hyades andSirius superclusters. New DDO results are given for 120 stars.

Visual multiples. VIII - 1000 MK types A total of 1000 new classifications are given for stars brighter than B= 8.0 mag in the Aitken double star catalog. The classificationssupplement 865 classifications obtained in 1981 and 1984. Among thenewly discovered stars are 12 new Ap stars, eight Lambda Bootis stars, one Ba II star, and 60 Am stars. A detailed list of the newclassifications is given.

Close visual binaries. I - MK classifications Each component of 170 close visual binaries has been classified with newprocedures for controlling contamination problems. These classificationsare presented and are shown to be on the MK system. Two sources of areascanner UBV photometry were compared in order to establish homogeneousphotometric as well as spectroscopic data. From a consideration ofsystematic errors in the V magnitude difference (Delta V) betweencomponents the photometry of Hurly and Warner (1983) is to be preferred.Absolute magnitudes for each binary are derived from Delta V via atested MK - M(v) map.

Close visual binaries. II - Quantitative test of isochrones Homogeneous and accurate color-magnitude data are available from Paper Ifor each component of 56 close visual binaries, 30 with evolvedcomponents. The 21 binaries with main-sequence primaries are comparedwith new Yale isochrones to determine the appropriate isochronecomposition: Y = 0.25, Z = 0.04. Explanations are given for eightbinaries found to be inconsistent with this isochrone. Some of theremaining binaries suggest a decrease by 0.5 in the mixing lengthparameter for the reddest main-sequence stars, and either a smallerdecrease or mass loss in the subgiant and giant phase of evolution. Ingeneral, the mean apparent age difference between binary components (0.0+ or - 0.1 Gyr) shows stellar evolution to be well modeled by the newYale isochrones.

Area scanner observations of close visual double stars. I - Technique A description is presented of the construction and performance of acomputer-controlled area scanner, and its ability to produce highquality one-dimensional intensity profiles of close visual double starsis demonstrated. An innovative feature of the technique is the use ofon-line cross-correlation to remove the smearing effects of imagemotions. Good fits to Franz's analytical stellar intensity profiles areobtained, which then provide differential magnitudes and, in some cases, linear separations. The possibility of obtaining individual magnitudesof the components of systems with separations considerably less than 1arcsec is illustrated.
