Multiwavelength monitoring of the dwarf nova VW Hydri. II - Walraven photometry
Five-color Walraven photometric observations of VW Hyi were obtainedbetween July and November 1984. Significant orbital variations in theV-B, B-U, and B-L colors are detected which are mainly connected withthe presence of an orbital hump. No evidence is found for a secularvariation between outbursts in either the average flux or the orbitalmaximum and minimum fluxes, and little evidence is found for a seculartrend in the shape of the orbital light curves between outbursts. Theflux ratio across the Balmer jump is shown to change during a quiescenceinterval between outbursts, and results suggest a secular change in theshape of the B-U and U-W orbital color curves through quiescence. Theonset of normal outbursts is found to be progressively delayed towardsshorter wavelengths, in agreement with IUE observations.
