Statistical cataloging of archival data for luminosity class IV-V stars. II. The epoch 2001 [Fe/H] catalog This paper describes the derivation of an updated statistical catalog ofmetallicities. The stars for which those metallicities apply are ofspectral types F, G, and K, and are on or near the main sequence. Theinput data for the catalog are values of [Fe/H] published before 2002February and derived from lines of weak and moderate strength. Theanalyses used to derive the data have been based on one-dimensional LTEmodel atmospheres. Initial adjustments which are applied to the datainclude corrections to a uniform temperature scale which is given in acompanion paper (see Taylor \cite{t02}). After correction, the data aresubjected to a statistical analysis. For each of 941 stars considered,the results of that analysis include a mean value of [Fe/H], an rmserror, an associated number of degrees of freedom, and one or moreidentification numbers for source papers. | Statistical cataloging of archival data for luminosity class IV-V stars. I. The epoch 2001 temperature catalog This paper is one of a pair in which temperatures and metallicitycatalogs for class IV-V stars are considered. The temperature catalogdescribed here is derived from a calibration based on stellar angulardiameters. If published calibrations of this kind are compared by usingcolor-index transformations, temperature-dependent differences among thecalibrations are commonly found. However, such differences are minimizedif attention is restricted to calibrations based on Johnson V-K. Acalibration of this sort from Di Benedetto (\cite{dib98}) is thereforetested and adopted. That calibration is then applied to spectroscopicand photometric data, with the latter predominating. Cousins R-Iphotometry receives special attention because of its high precision andlow metallicity sensitivity. Testing of temperatures derived from thecalibration suggests that their accuracy and precision are satisfactory,though further testing will be warranted as new results appear. Thesetemperatures appear in the catalog as values of theta equiv5040/T(effective). Most of these entries are accompanied by measured orderived values of Cousins R-I. | Caby Photometry of the Hyades: Comparisons with the Field Stars Intermediate-band photometry of the Hyades on the Caby system ispresented for dwarf stars ranging from spectral type A through late K. Amean (hk, b-y) relation is constructed using only single stars withoutanomalous atmospheres and is compared with the field stars of the solarneighborhood. For the F dwarfs, the Hyades relation defines anapproximate lower bound in the two-color diagram, consistent with an[Fe/H] between +0.10 and +0.15. These index-color diagrams follow thecommon convention of presenting stars with highest abundance at thebottom of the plot, although the index values for the metal-rich starsare numerically larger. For field F dwarfs in the range [Fe/H] between+0.4 and -1.0, [Fe/H]=-5.6δhk+0.125, with no evidence for a colordependence in the slope. For the G and K dwarfs, the Hyades meanrelation crosses the field star distribution in the two-color diagram,defining an approximate upper bound for the local disk stars. Starsfound above the Hyades stars fall in at least one of three categories:[Fe/H] below -0.7, [Fe/H] above that of the Hyades, or chromosphericallyactive. It is concluded that, contrary to the predictions of modelatmospheres, the hk index for cool dwarfs at a given color hits amaximum value for stars below solar composition and, with increasing[Fe/H] above some critical value, declines. This trend is consistent,however, with the predictions from synthetic indices based upon muchnarrower Ca filters, where the crossover is caused by the metallicitysensitivity of b-y.
| The [Fe/H] distribution of a volume limited sample of solar-type stars and its implications for galactic chemical evolution. We present [Fe/H] determinations for a volume-limited sample of G and Kdwarfs from the Gliese catalog of nearby stars. The [Fe/H] values weredetermined from the FeI lines present in =~40Å wide highresolution (R >=50000) spectra taken around the LiI 6707.8Åline, through an equivalent width analysis based on the latest Kuruczmodel atmospheres. The resulting abundance distribution, corrected fordisk heating effects, is compared to recent models of galactic chemicalevolution. The surprising result is that, while the abundancedistribution of solar-type dwarfs hotter than =~5100K and the derivedchemical evolution parameters (in particular the rate of Fe enrichmentand the abundance spread at a given age) are compatible with previousdeterminations of the same quantities, dwarfs cooler than 5100K show alack of metal-poor ([Fe/H]<~-0.4) objects, implying chemicalevolution parameters (using the same model) not compatible with the onesderived for the hotter stars. Possible explanations for this fact arediscussed, critically considering possible biases present in the parentsample, as well as each of the assumptions made in the chemicalevolution model and in particular the assumption that the birth ratewill be constant with time and independent of stellar mass.
| Lithium abundance in a volume-limited sample of nearby main sequence G and K stars. We present observations of the Lii 6707.8Angstroems line in a volumelimited sample of main sequence stars of spectral types ranging fromlate F down to M0, selected from the Gliese catalog of nearby stars,discussing the behavior of lithium abundance along the main sequence. Anunexpected result from our survey is that a low but measurable abundanceof surface lithium (-0.5

We give a common version of the two catalogues of Mean Radial Velocitiesby Wilson (1963) and Evans (1978) to which we have added the catalogueof spectroscopic binary systems (Batten et al. 1989). For each star,when possible, we give: 1) an acronym to enter SIMBAD (Set ofIdentifications Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) ofthe CDS (Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). 2) the numberHIC of the HIPPARCOS catalogue (Turon 1992). 3) the CCDM number(Catalogue des Composantes des etoiles Doubles et Multiples) byDommanget & Nys (1994). For the cluster stars, a precise study hasbeen done, on the identificator numbers. Numerous remarks point out theproblems we have had to deal with.

| H-alpha absolute chromospheric fluxes in G and K dwarfs and subgiants High resolution, high S/N H-alpha observations for a sample of 85 dwarfsand subgiants of spectral type F8 to K5 are presented. A calibrationprocedure to convert the observed equivalent widths to absolute fluxesat the stellar surface is developed and these fluxes are compared withthose obtained in the Ca II K line are compared. Within the observedrange of spectral types there is some evidence that the ratio of H-alphato Ca II K line fluxes increases toward cooler stars, suggesting thatthis effect, which is prominent in M dwarfs, is already significant forK stars. For G and early K stars the H-alpha flux is found to increasewith increasing activity more slowly than the Ca II K flux, givingflux-flux relationships that are similar to those observed for solarplages. It is also found that all subgiants in the sample have very lowH-alpha fluxes, typically lower than for dwarfs of the same spectraltype. The survey clearly shows that the H-alpha line, although being auseful diagnostic of stellar chromospheres, and easily accessible tomodern solid-state detectors, is not particularly suitable for anaccurate determination of absolute chromospheric fluxes.

| BVRI photometry of the Gliese Catalogue stars Photoelectri BVRI photometry on the Cousins (Kron-Cape) system has beenobtained for many of the southern faint stars in the Gliese Catalog(1969). This extends the work of Cousins (1980) and provides a uniformset of data for the nearby stars. Several red dwarfs are noted, whichwere used to define the red end of the Cousins system.
